About This Spot

Stepping into Roosevelt feels like opening the door to a cherished family dining room, where time slows down just enough to savor quiet moments and the warmth of good company. Nestled on a quiet stretch of Union Street in Bellaire, this unpretentious Italian restaurant carries the gentle hum of familiar conversation, the occasional clatter of plates, and the inviting aroma of fresh pasta simmering on the stove.

The atmosphere at Roosevelt is thoughtfully relaxed, a little like a neighborhood secret quietly passed between friends. The décor, softly nostalgic, hints at a sense of continuity—this is a place where traditions are lovingly preserved, from the cozy booths where families gather to the friendly smiles exchanged behind the counter. It’s easy to settle in and feel as if you’ve found a spot that’s been patiently waiting just for you.

At the heart of the experience is the food, which speaks quietly of craftsmanship without fanfare. Every dish reveals a gentle care for flavors that feel genuine and honest—the kind you might remember from Sunday dinners or close-knit celebrations. The fresh pasta, handmade and tender, carries a subtle firmness that invites you to pause and appreciate each bite. Whether wrapped around cheese-stuffed ravioli or twirling through a hearty meatball sauce, each plate offers a little moment of delight, enhanced by the easygoing pace of the kitchen.

This is a place where longtime patrons and first-timers alike find something deeply familiar—a comforting blend of good food, modest surroundings, and the slow rhythm of a true hometown favorite. Roosevelt invites you to lean back, linger over a sandwich or a bowl of gnocchi, and enjoy a meal shaped by generations of quiet care and simple pleasures.

Was a great first time experience at this hole in the wall restaurant! 10/10

I don't know why anyone would give this place a bad review. I met 3 of my friends here on a Saturday right after opening, and it was a great experience. Two of us, including me, ordered Tricia's special (meatballs and ricotta) and two of us got ravioli. One of my friends let me try their ravioli and it is some of the best I've ever eaten. It was more on the firm side, but it was tender and tasted amazing. I like firm pasta more than soft, so be aware of that if you like soft pasta. The meatballs and sauce are delicious, and I ate every bite. They are generous with bread, we had two baskets. Service is fast and our waitress was very friendly. We were served on actual dishes and drinking glasses, no Styrofoam. Be sure to bring cash, cards aren't accepted. There is an ATM in the restaurant though. Its a bit more casual and old fashioned than most people are used to these days, but I would definitely eat here again. I highly recommend. Don't pay attention to the bad reviews, try it yourself first!

Nice little hometown eatery. The home made spaghetti noodles are to die for. Their spicy Italian sausage sandwich is also amazing.

This place was amazing. Family owned and fresh made pasta. I had the ravioli and the wife had the hand made spaghetti. If your close to there you need to stop and eat...

I love this place, my girlfriend showed me The Roosevelt for the first time about 25 years ago, she knew it well because her family went alot when she was young. In my opinion, it's very cozy and laid back, the food is homemade, the staff is relaxed and nice. It's decor reminds me of how places used to be when I was growing up. I love how it is almost exactly the same as the first time I went, I would choose their relaxed "old school" atmosphere over any "fancy" Italian restaurant any day.
